My Musical Journey

Grown Men Don’t Cry

After a few decades on planet Earth, a song like this one starts making more and more sense. Many people see judgementalism when a Christian proclaims that we live in a sin cursed world. I experience it more as a sadness. We are all in this trap. We all sin because it is our nature. Only God can save us from sin. Anyhow, this song offers three glimpses into the world of sin and the pain it causes. The first example is a young, single mom suffering the consequences of sin in her life. The powerful lyrics describe “years of bad decisions running down her face.”

The second example shows a young man separated from his dad by life’s circumstances and there is no longer anything he can do about it. Such sadness, but this is the world we live in.

The third example is the one that always gets me. With all that has happened in my own life, I think the words from my own daughters, “I love you dad,” mean more to me than just about anything else.

No,  I don’t understand why they say grown men don’t cry.
