Friends – A Rather Prophetic Movie

In 1971, I was 19 years old dating a young lady who was 17. I was very much in love and thought she was too. We went to see the movie ”Friends” starring Anicee Alvina and Sean Bury. The movie was about a very young teen couple who run away to live together and start a family in the French Camargue. The most interesting thing about this movie was that Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote the score for it before they were famous. And the music was wonderful – some of his best. This movie was where I discovered Elton John. Well, young people my age were greatly affected…

    Save the Last Dance

If you are a father or a daughter who has gone through a divorce, this movie is for you. It’s not about divorce but does show these two struggling with their broken family. This is the daughter who has come to live with her estranged dad because mom died in a car accident. And they are struggling to find their place with each other. Very touching.

    Castaway, Final Scene

Spoiler Alert!: This is the last scene of this movie. It probably won’t ruin it for you if you watch this scene before seeing the full movie, but I would still suggest not watching this until you have seen the movie. Saddest. Movie. Ever. This movie takes me back to a time when I had to make an extremely difficult decision in my life. To be honest, I can hardly handle the last third of this movie because it is so painful. But they tackle the situation where a person is forced to let go of that which they dearly love and set out for a new, unknown destination to…

    Dead Poet’s Society, final scene

Spoiler Alert: If you have not seen this movie yet, you might want to skip this video. I lived through a church split in 1988. The church had been a very significant part of my life and the split was a major event with the local news and even national TV and at least one magazine article in Britain that covered it. It was a very difficult time for those of us in the church. After a time I took a trip to Disneyland by myself to get away, I took a day and wandered around Orange County and ended up in a movie theatre. One of my deepest hurts…

Field of Dreams – Last Scene

This movie is what I call a *healing movie* for 60s men. I appreciated the imagery as a 60s man, but I also appreciated the spiritual element of the movie since I have experienced a lot of healing from God. If you are a male who grew up in the 60s and especially if your relationship with your dad was strained, this movie will put you on the floor crying. I particularly identified with Terence Mann, but also with the main character,Ray Kinsella. There are so many issues from our generation dealt with in this movie. I just loved it. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT: If you have not seen this movie,…

Moses Meets God in the Burning Bush

I first saw the movie “The Ten Commandments” when I was in the 7th grade at a theater in Maryland. I remember it affected me deeply because I didn’t really believe in God but I wanted to. I wanted God to be as real as He was in the movie, but I wasn’t willing to just believe without some kind of evidence. This scene is when Moses hears from God as God spoke from the burning bush. What an amazing experience to actually have God talk to you. I have since had God speak to me a number of times. Usually, God speaks to us as impressions or thoughts. But…
